The 2015 Scavenger Hunt update

The 2015 Scavenger Hunt is under way:

Hi you all! Hmmm we've been working on finding pictures for the hunt and even have a few planned out to be taken. It's nice when you can get help with your hunt, my husband has decided to keep an eye out for certain things on the list too! Kinda fun to have him playing along with me. So this week he's been working at the Columbia Montour VoTech doing maintenance work and got the picture of: 15. A flag pole with at least three flags on it
The wind was blowing just fine for the picture too :) So that is 2 pictures completed on the list. This weekend we expect to get quite a few pictures for the hunt while visiting with Tammy and the kids for Brandon's Graduation
 Have a fantastic day!

June Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to the June Counterfeit Kit Blog Hop. You should have arrived here from Lisa's blog I'm excite to see what marvelous creation she has made :) This month's challenges are:
Challenge #1: Patterned die cuts
Challenge #2: Transportation challenge

Challenge #3: One side or the other

I chose to do the One side or the other challenge, what helped with this decision was a sketch that I saw from Let's Get Sketchy week 4 sketch that was perfect for this challenge:

A close up of the flower pictures. The papers used came from this month's kit and the die cuts and rub-on came from a previous month's kit.
The title section was fun to put together with the die-cuts and washi tape. That is the last of the 2014 flower pictures that needed scraped and this particular paper helped with the theme of the layout. I was glad to use the stripe paper in this fun way. This particular challenge is a great way to use up those papers that you don't want to cover up. Thanks for stopping by, now it's time to go check out what challenge Leslie has decided to do you can go here to find out, enjoy the hop and if you get lost you can see the full line up here at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog site.

At The Hop Lasting Memories Challenge

Good Morning and welcome to my blog :) Today is a new challenge over at Lasting Memories and the challenge is The Little Things.
We love to do little things for the grandkids and this seems to be a favorite of theirs, to come over for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. This was from the 1st one we did the weather was so nice that year that we included a couple of games for them to play after the hunt.
The inspirational photo from Lasting Memories to help with the challenge this week:
Inspirational Photo - The LITTLE THINGS

Grandkids occupy the biggest part of our hearts so thought it was fitting to do a layout on them and I was glad to get this one scrapped and in the books from that day :)
A close up of the left hand side, I cut up the directions on how to do the bunny hop game for the journaling, punched out a bunch of circles and layered up. I'm pretty sure this was a sketch last month that I never got the chance to blog last month during LOAD.  This layout came about from the LOAD prompt on May 8: Genre and Style: Hip Hop: Cue the music: “I said a hip hop the hippie the hippie, To the hip hip hop, a you don’t stop” LOTS of options for you today! What do you think of? Hip Hop? Rapper’s DELIGHT? A bunny hopping? Hippies? The end of disco? GO! So this is what I had to work with and went right to the Bunny Hopping!
The right hand side holds a few more pictures and I enjyed framing up that one as Elias and Zachary were having a blast with this game
 My personal jouraling
A cute cricut cut I got in a swap was perfect for the layout
A close up of the directions :) Zachary was having so much fun hopping Dad was having fun just trying to keep him in the one spot till it was his turn :) I used last month's counterfeit kit for this layout and lots of left over scraps from the month before for the circles. I used an old song title for my title to keep in with the LOAD theme of the month :)
Thank you for stopping by today and seeing what I'm up too. I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge and this is the last one for the month so the challenge ends this coming Friday night.

May's Read of 26 books for 2015

This is what I read in May and finished it up in June
The list comes from Bringing Up Burns blog and feel it's a great list to dive into reading again.
1 - A book you own but haven't read
2 - a book that was made into a movie
3 - a book you pick solely because of the cover
4 - a book your friend loves
5 - a book published this year
6 - a book by an author you've never read before
7 - a book by an author you love
8 - a book at the bottom of your "to be read" pile
9 - a book with a color in the title
10 - a book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit
11 - a book you started but never finished
12 - a book with a lion, a witch, or a wardrobe
13 - a book with a female heroine
14 - a book set in the summer
15 - a book of poems
16 - a book you learned about because of this challenge
17 - a book that will make you smarter
18 - a book with a blue cover
19 - a book you were supposed to read in school. But didn't.
21 - a book with a great first line
22 - a book with pictures
23 - a book from the library
24 - a book you loved... read it again!
25 - a book that is more than 10 years old
26 - a book based on a true story
When I left you on May 1 I was: So now I'm just about to start Under the Dome by Stephen King (my favorite author): 7 - a book by an author you love. I enjoyed the television series and a friend told me it's a great book, so decided to read this one next and hopefully have it read before the TV series starts back up in June.
Well I got sidetracked and ended up reading by Stephenie Meyer:  Midnight Sun: Edward's Version of Twilight. I can't remember how I ended up on her site and finding it, I think I did a google search and came across the cover:
Image result for midnight sun stephenie meyer
and did some investigating into it. Found that only part of it is on her website as a download so that is what I did and read it. It was fun to read an online style book, different too not to hold a book but it was nice (this just might get me closer to getting a kindle or something like that).  The work retells the events of Twilight, but is written from the perspective of Edward Cullen and it was a good read to see it from another respective. While I located this book I also found a fanfiction novel that is the 2nd part of this book where Stephenie leaves off and she picks it up:
The first book, which I call Midnight Sun, Part II, consists of the missing second half of Ms. Meyer’s Chapter 12, “Complications,” twelve additional chapters, and the “Epilogue.”her blog is called Twilight: The Missing Pieces
So now she has done all the books from Edward's perspective and it's been interesting to read it, I'm now in her version of New Moon. She definitely has a different writing style than Stephenie's and you can pick up on it quickly. So I'll be putting down Under the Dome for now and reading this series of books from her website. I guess I'm in a Twilight year this year :) So I'm using this for #18 - a book with a blue cover. I figure it's close enough to a blue cover.

Friendship Card for Funday Friday

Hi you all and welcome to Friday! Today the weather here isn't to kind actually a bit overcast, hopefully later today the sun will peek out a bit.
Today's theme for Funday Friday over at Jo's Scrap Shack is Friendship. This week's sponsor is Little Blue Button Stamps I used their digital stamp: Miss Lily in the Garden:
I used my current counterfeit kit for my card, scraps do come in handy for cards :) I colored Miss Ivy with my Spectrum Noir and my Bic markers. I also used the crystal stickles I pulled for this month's kit to give some sparkle to the flower and leaves that are in the wheel barrel. I framed her a bit with liquid pearls and gave her blue some stickles sparkle too. Added a fun border of ribbon to the middle of the card.
I chose another gate fold card for today's card for a weekly card challenge over at Scrappin n Chattin yahoo group. The sentiment spot holds the card close. I used 3 Twenty Crafts "Strike A Pose" stamp set and I used CTMH Indian Corn Blue ink for the inking. I also added SU candy dots to the sentiment and the corner of the card.
The inside of the card mimics the blue and yellow of her outfit and I found this fun vellum to use for the sentiment inside the card. Thanks for stopping by today and I'm excited to see what you all create for this theme.
Our Sponsor this week is:
Little Blue Button Stamps

Part Of My Journey a LO for Lasting Memories Challenge

Good Morning to you :) I hope that the weekend has been well for you. I have been catching up on the videos for an online class I'm taking at Craft With May: Vacation 2015. The class shows various ways to approach a Vacation Album, since my Steamtown Album is on my list to finish up this month I thought catching up with the class was the perfect inspiration to get me back into the project. This week should be a good week to get that goal accomplished. But, today is for this week's newest challenge over at Lasting Memories: The Journey. This is what I did with a little bit of help from LOAD to get this part of my like down on paper:
This layout came about from the LOAD prompt: Broadway Show:
Have you ever felt like your life was On Stage?
Every life is full of many stories; if your life was “Live on Broadway”, what would the show be titled?
So I went looking about at the plays on Broadway and come across this one: How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying So that became the title of my layout. The play does depict part of my own Journey in Life, so with that said this is the inspirational quote to use for this week's challenge over at Lasting Memories:

What a wonderful quote to work with and there is so many ways to got with it, check out what the other designers have done over at Lasting Memories
There were times in my business that my husband was struggling to understand what I was doing with my life, with my business. That's fine because it was my journey to make sense of, there are times when I don't understand his journey too :)
A close up of the pictures: One when I started (I was mobile back then) and the other was one that was taken close to finishing up my business (I was the in-house embroiderer for a local screen-printing business). I also included a printout of my logo in the layout. We decided to close my business this year when problems arise with the machinery, with the people I was working for and my husband to be able to retire if he wanted to. Boy talking about getting gray over a 10 year period! Things can change very quickly over a decade.
My journaling came from and article that my company was featured in and thought it made a nice addition to the layout
I used last month's counterfeit kit and some scraps too. Stickers from Simple Stories 24/7 line and candy dots from Stampin Up.
I used 3 different Alphas for the Title. look forward to bring more stories on my time in business, lots of fun stories from on the road and some not so fun. As we clean out 2 trucks for a huge yardsale in August, I know I'll be coming across many things from my business ventures and can see them going into the many smashbooks that are waiting for such stories!
We look forward to seeing where your Journey will take you this month......

Father's Day Card for Funday Friday

Hi you all :) Yay Friday! It's a hot one where I'm at today, we haven't seen Summer begin on the calendar yet, but the last couple of days it's definitely here! Today's Funday Friday challenge theme is Father's Day over at Jo's Scrap Shack and the sponsors this week are: A Day For Daisies and Bugaboo Stamps. This is the card I created:
I made this card for my husband from our furbaby for Father's Day. I used A Day For Daisies digital stamp: Buddy. I thought that is was just perfect for this type of card and fits so well with our own Buddy. I used my current counterfeit kit for all the papers for the card. I also used the current card sketch over at Sketch N Scrap:

Isn't this stamp just the cutest thing! Oh my I see my Buddy's love for his best friend so well in this stamp, sometimes nicknamed Dad's Shadow that he's with him constantly when he's home. He is a protector as much as he is a friend. I colored up the stamp with my bic markers.
The inside of the card all ready to give to Dave. I found the sentiment to type up with a google search. Thanks for stopping by today and I can't wait to see what you create for the challenge.
Our Sponsors this week are:
A Day for Daisies

Off the Hook

Hi you all :) After cleaning off my craft desk yesterday I rewarded myself by crafting up this 2 page layout. The papers in this layout come from 3 different Monthly Counterfeit kits ( a piece of this month's is in there too :) I dug these pictures out to be scrapped in April, well never got the chance too and May LOAD had nothing to do that I could use these pictures for so yesterday was the perfect day to scrap them :) Plus there is still a handful from that day left to scrap another layout too.
This was made from a sketch challenge over at Scrappin N Chattin yahoo group for this month's challenges. So the grid work of the sketch worked out perfect for the fishing photos
Albert and Andrea and their kids less Astacia was on this layout. Albert is our next to the last son (Dave's 3rd child). the pictures are from last year that Andrea posted of FB so I grabbed them and did the layout :). I'm looking forward to handing over the layouts of the kids and their kids to the kids at Christmas time with an album that I can then just create the layouts and give to them each year.
The kids were sure having fun :)
The journaling just about all of it came from what Andrea posted for each of the pictures and I made some assumptions with the rest. I used 3 diecuts on the layout: 2 I received from swaps and 1 is the one I created for a swap from the Nifty Fifties cartridge.
Thanks for stopping by and seeing what I'm doing in my little corner of the world

Girls Just Want to Have Fun

When you see a smile on my face, I'm in my Happy zone!

Hi you all, hope it's been a great weekend for you :) This is a layout I made during LOAD last month and the whole of the layout is what makes me happy and this is just one of the times in my life that I'm truly happy.
Today's Challenge over at Lasting Memories is Happiness and we were given this quote for inspiration:

This quote should be given to every little girl and boy out in the world :) What a confidence booster that is. There is a way to be selfish and to share with others at the same time, because when you share with others it produces Happiness and that is a cool way of being a bit selfish, I think. It's the MEAN in the world that changes what being a bit selfish is that makes Happiness a priority.
This layout came about from the LOAD prompt on May 27: Performer:
Some people say everyone’s a Performer.
If you could be a performer, who would you be and what song of theirs would you sing?
Out of all the songs that I love to hear. all the groups and singers, I have alot of favorites too. But, It was when Cyndi Lauper hit the Video scene with Girls Just Want to Have Fun! There aren't many songs that will pull you out of a blah mode than this. So that one is my choice for this layout and I used that song title for my layout title.
There are many things that make me happy, being with my grandkids, being in my scraproom, traveling, Family times no matter what were doing has a place in my heart. But, there is times in your life you just remember and when you spark that memory it instantly brings a smile on your face :) This day is one of them and a different side to my personality that most people don't know. These are the pictures from that day, Dave let me mow the one field off and man did I have a blast!
Aug 14, 2012 was the day!
The journaling I had first put on a PL card but that wasn't fitting in the layout at all. So I cut up and made these journaling strips and it worked in the chosen spot. I used my last month's Counterfeit Kit. All the LOAD layouts I mainly used my May Counterfeit Kit, so when you see more LOAD posts over the month you'll know what I used to create it with.
When you see a smile on my face, I'm in my Happy zone!
Now it's your turn :) Looking forward to what you create on what makes you happy :)

Rinda's 2015 Scavenger Hunt

The 2015 Scavenger Hunt is under way:

I am joining in with Rinda's Photography Scavenger Hunt this year and on this page you will find all my 'finds' for this year. I will probably have done a post about them too, but here you will find them all together. I will be adding to this page as I come across the items on the list. I may take more than one photo of an item and I will be deciding at the end of the hunt which my final items will be.
So the post was made about the new Scavenger Hunt this year, she shares this:Newcomers welcome - the more, the merrier! No special photography skills are required - I love seeing everything from snap shots to fine art photography in response to the list. You don't have to do anything special to sign up, but if you're a blogger who I don't normally visit, leave me a link to your blog in the comments and I'll add you to my feedly reader. I like to gather and highlight posts now and then throughout the summer to share here. You can see the post here on Rinda's Blog looks like a fun list here it is:

Alternative C: A rocking chair

By pure luck I already have photos of the Turtle:

7. A turtle:This was the first find by pure luck on June 1 we had a snapping turtle in the garden:

Dave said he probably came up from the river, must have been quite the tract. I just happen to see something strange in the garden and went to investigate and this is what I found. So first picture down and done! Crossed off the list. I have a separate page for this hunt: and there you can check in if you like to see what pictures I've gotten over the summer attached with a link to the blog post about it.
